In Autumn 2024 a new opportunity was presented to us to plant trees in a new forest being created at Linton Farm. On 10th December 2024, we collected a a copse pack of saplings from NCC (120 trees), these were planted on Wednesday 11th November by 6 volunteers from GMDT and Morpeth Litter Group. This is supported Northumberland Rivers Trust.
We will be going back in November 2025 to support this , If you are interested in wanting to help, please contact GMDT via info@gmdt.org.
As part of the preparation we will ask each individual to request FREE trees from NCC. GMDT will request its COPSE pack of over 100 saplings to plant.
Historic projects:
In April 2024 we were initially asked to help planting trees at Chevington woods (the aim was to double the size of Chevington Woods, an area between Stobswood and Acklington). At the last minute the Project was cancelled.
In November 2023 a team of 8 people, helped to plant 100s of trees and bushes in Pegswood Moor Country park. It was hoped that we would continue with this project in Autumn 2024 – but we were advised recently that Pegswood Moor Country Park is now completed and no further planting taking place in 2024.
