2025 plans – ‘Keep Britain Tidy’s Morpeth Litter Group’ continues to run Community Litter Blitz events, these take place last Sunday of the month February – November (excluding July / August for holidays). See table below for the dates of the Litter blitzes and target location and meet details.

** No restriction on numbers, but please register your attendance in advance as this helps with event planning and allocating correct team sizes. **

Blitz Date Target Areas Meeting Place/Update

Sunday 16th February:             

1-2:30pm

Castle Close, Kirkhill
24 people came along and 70 bags were cleared including tyres, large metal bits, the scale of rubbish from the bonfire was huge but it was all taken away. What a job to start 2025 – team were fantastic in clearing it.

Sunday 2nd March:             

1-2:30pm

Morpeth Town Centre  17 people came along and 50 bags were collected – the town was in a poor state with litter everywhere. What a difference the team made.

Sunday 30th March:                 

1-2:30pm

Morpeth Town Centre – also supported Keep Britain Tidy’s – Great British Spring clean
20 people came along and 35 bags were collected, including planks, loads of bricks. The town was badly blighted by cigarette butts – we need the Restaurants, pubs etc to clean the front of their business.

Tuesday 9th April       

10:30-noon

Coopies Lane Industrial Estate – in partnership with Coca Cola Morpeth Coca Cola team of 12 people were supported by 8 Morpeth Litter Group volunteers – the whole estate was cleaned up – 30 bags collected. A superb job by the team. We hope to do this again in September 2025 and make it it an Annual event.

Sunday 27th May:                 

1-2:30pm

Morpeth Town Centre   a team of 23 came along – 2 young KEVI students completing Litter Picking for their Community awards. 3 new volunteers – lovely to see more people want to get involved. 25 bags were collected and for the 1st time in 2 years 10 ROUTES were completed. A member also cleared the Clifton slip road off the A1.

Sunday 25th May:                       

1-2:30pm

Morpeth Town Centre  a team of 21 came along  22 bags were collected. Heavy rain hit us 10 minutes before start, no one was put off – rain held off and all routes done.
