Picnic in the Park 2026

GMDT organises the free annual family event held in Carlisle Park, in central Morpeth.

Every summer, the vibrant community spirit of Morpeth comes alive with this much-anticipated event. Families, friends, and visitors from near and far gather to enjoy an afternoon filled with music, laughter, and shared memories in the picturesque Carlisle Park. The atmosphere is always electric, a testament to the dedication of organisers and volunteers alike. Each year, the event surpasses expectations, offering something for everyone.

The 2026 picnic will be held on Sunday 12th July between 10am and 4pm.

This cherished tradition brings together an array of entertainment and activities that cater to all age groups. The picnic boasts performances, interactive games, and stalls, offering everything from local crafts and delicious treats to community resources. Each year, organisers strive to introduce new elements, ensuring the event remains fresh and exciting for attendees. Families can relax amidst the greenery while children explore the many activities designed to keep them engaged and delighted.

The 2025 event attracted thousands throughout the afternoon.

This is our biggest event and is supported by the Carlisle Park Team of Northumberland County Council, but also requires many GMDT volunteers on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly.
