Picnic in the Park

Due to extension of Government Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, with great regret this annual event scheduled for Sun 11th July 2021 had to be cancelled – special theme would have been ‘Conservation & the Environment’. Hopefully we will be able to host a successful return in July 2022 after a now 2 years absence!

The Morpeth ‘Picnic in the Park’ is a free annual family event hosted by GMDT on either the 2nd or 3rd Sunday of July in Carlisle Park, whichever Sunday is immediately prior to the schools summer holidays. Each annual picnic has a theme and in 2019 it was all about nature and conservation, with a corresponding art project geared to the same subject. The picnic runs from 12 noon – 4pm with free BBQ, music, children’s entertainment, magic, plus Whitehouse Farm, Old English Falconry, and much much more. Our 2019 ‘Picnic in the Park’ was on Sunday 14th July.

This is our biggest event and is supported by the Carlisle Park Team of Northumberland County Council, but also requires many GMDT volunteers on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly.
