In 2023 – Morpeth Litter Group opened a new initiative to fight the fight against litter. One of the biggest hurdles we have is trying to place a bin in a location that is constantly blighted by litter but NCC Environment has manpower resource constraints / budgets in providing new bins. Therefore in an attempt to address 2 HOTSPOTS in Morpeth: Morpeth Castle grounds, Rear path at rear of Railway station.

Working in partnership with Landmark trust – a new bin cradle was installed – required approval from English Heritage due to having to put a post into Castle grounds and NCC who provided the larger bags for the cradles.

Working in partnership with Northern Rail, new cradle put up at the rear of the Northbound platform and bin emptied by a Morpeth Litter Group volunteer.
