In 2022 with Covid-19 restrictions starting to be lifted allowing small groups of 8 to meet socially, Morpeth Litter Group opened the STREET BLITZ initiative. This involves cleaning up the STREET verges along busy A and B roads and Unclassified roads.

In 2022 we completed 5 STREET Blitzes:

• Rear lane behind Kirkhall estate
• Rear road behind North Morpeth that runs from Longhirst road to Blagdon road
• Whalton Road , past the golf course to Gubeon
• Hepscott roads from Guidepost road into the village
• The unclassified lane that goes from Guidepost road to Bothal woods

The scale of litter was astounding – much of it being there for over 20 years!

         Safety of the Litterpickers – 2 teams of 3 with 1 Marshall per team, working on either side of the road.
