Director: Roger Michel
Writers: Richard Bean andClive Coleman
Starring: Helen Mirren and Jim Broadbent
Genres: Biography, Comedy, Drama.

The astonishing true story of Kempton Bunton, a retired bus driver from Newcastle upon Tyne, who in 1961, stole a portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London, to help his campaign for free TV licences for pensioners. Starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren, the film was directed by Roger Michell, best known for Notting Hill, who sadly passed away before the film was released. The film has won universal acclaim from critics with and audiences alike.

“All rise for The Duke, an underdog yarn that makes a powerful case for the English amateur, the common man who survives by his wits with the odds stacked against him. Roger Michell’s delightful true-crime caper comes bolstered by a terrific lead performance from Jim Broadbent. What a lovely, rousing, finally moving film this is.”  The Guardian
