2022, cert 12, running time: 2 hours 8 mins

Screenwriter: Michelle Ashford

Starring: Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilton

Genres: Drama, Romance

The film takes its title from the audacious real-life mission that tricked Hitler into believing the Allies were going to invade Greece, rather than Sicily, in 1943. It involved dressing a corpse as a fictitious British officer carrying plans for this nonexistent invasion; the body was dropped into the sea so that it would wash up in Spain where the British were confident the intelligence would be passed to the Germans.

“The star-studded film, which at times seems to have employed just about every British character actor, is seriously classy. The film oozes wartime atmosphere, the Director, John Madden, skilfully makes time both for intrigue and romance…… highly recommended”.  Daily Mail
