Picnic in the Park is an annual event held in Carlisle Park, Morpeth. The event attracts many locals, as well as families, travelling especially to be part of this fun filled day.
Picnic in the Park is ran by Greater Morpeth Development Trust's Art and Culture group, and with a span of over ten years, this event proves to become more popular each year!
The date for this fantastic event is Sunday 25th July, starting at 12 noon and finishing at 4pm. Admission is free and this year's theme to entice and excite is Admiral Lord Collingwood, to mark the 200th Anniversary of Lord Collingwood's death. To really celebrate in style there will be many new and exciting attractions, including a Battle of Trafalgar themed Art Project, a re-enactment and skirmish of the battle itself, as well as a full camp display, with cooking, artefacts and camp throughout the afternoon.
There will also be a wide range of other attractions and family filled activities going on throughout the day, including Pony Rides, Teddy Bears Picnic, A Magic Show and Guide Dogs for the blind. And this year we have an extra treat with a lecture by Dr. Tony Barrow on Collingwood's Northumbrians at the Town Hall at 5pm.
It really is fun for the whole family, with snacks and refreshments available, a performance by Ashington Colliery Brass Band, bouncy castle, a chance to splash in the famous and refurbished Morpeth Carlisle Park Paddling Pool and much, much more!
