Dave Pope

Dave's membership of GMDT, and latterly his service as a Community Director came about as a natural progression from his involvement with Morpeth Pride, and Morpeth & District Chamber of Trade, both of which organisations gave the opportunity to be a participant in the vital and on-going development of the town. Of the latter organisation, Dave was pleased to serve as Chairman for three years.

Dave's own occupational background includes agriculture, engineering, transport, hotels and catering, computer systems maintenance and, for the last 10 years, running his own small business in web design & small business IT support. The latter has given him the opportunity to work alongside a wide variety of businesses and organisations, mostly Morpeth based, thus gaining in insight into the nature of commercial activity in a regional market town.

As a keen amateur musician, Dave has been involved in a number of aspects of the local Arts scene, both as a performer and as an events organiser. Consequently, his involvement with culture in Morpeth has been mostly with such events as Morpeth’s Summer and Winter Fairs, “Picnic in the Park” and the free entertainment provided over the summer holiday Saturdays by a partnership of local organisations.

Drawing on this wide variety of experience, Dave is always happy to become involved in any local activity, which fulfils the Chamber of Trade’s strap-line – “Promoting Morpeth for Business, Residence and Tourism”
