Enterprise & Economy

This has been a year where the Economy Interest Group and the Enterprise Interest Group have for the most part met on a joint basis. Over the course of the year our group has examined and discussed a wide range of issues, including the Evening Economy report commissioned by Castle Morpeth Borough Council. Although much of its contents have been overtaken by events there are still aspects of the report that are worthy of further attention by the group.

The group has followed with interest the progress of the redevelopment scheme in the Sanderson Arcade led by Dransfield Properties Limited. Over recent months the Economy Interest Group has been much concerned by the Post Office's proposals to close offices in and around the town.

The group looks forward to availability of resources to help it pursue more projects aimed at improving the town's economy.
