2019, cert 15, running time: 2 hours 12 mins

Director: Adam McKay
Screenplay: Adam McKay

Starring: Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carell
Genre: Biography, Comedy, Drama,
The story of Dick Cheney, an unassuming bureaucratic Washington insider, who is picked by George W Bush to be his Republican running mate in the 2000 presidential election. Previously Defence Secretary to President Bush Snr, Cheney uses his newfound power to help reshape the country and America’s influence in the world. Vice is not a conventional biopic, it is a darkly comic film; writer and director Adam McKay revels in adapting the stories of large-scale crooks and charlatans for the big screen, as in The Big Short, his humorous depiction of the events leading up to the 2008 financial crisis.
“This is a film that is designed to stir the pot, to rattle cages, to instigate uncomfortable heated arguments… (and is) frequently very funny”. The Guardian
